# The Best Yoga Mat Towels for Grip and Sweat Source: https://yogastudionest.com/best/best-yoga-mat-towels Updated: 2026-10-06 Publisher: Yoga Studio Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://yogastudionest.com/how-we-research#our-score A mat towel is the cheapest way to make an existing mat work for sweaty practice: it soaks up moisture, adds traction, and throws in the washing machine afterward, which is far easier than scrubbing a mat. It also protects your mat surface and layers over rental mats you would rather not touch. Towels vary in how they stay in place, from silicone grip dots to corner pockets, and in texture, absorbency, and drying speed. We focused on whether each towel actually stays flat during a flow, since a bunching towel is worse than none. We also weighed wet grip, absorbency, size match with standard mats, and how the fabric holds up after many wash cycles. Hot yoga regulars should pick the most absorbent grippy options, while home practitioners who just want a hygiene layer or light sweat control can go simpler and cheaper. ## Picks ### 1.
