Eye pillow

A small, weighted pillow placed over closed eyes to block light and add gentle pressure during rest.

An eye pillow is a small fabric pouch, typically filled with flaxseed or a similar weighted material, placed over closed eyes during savasana or restorative poses. The combination of gentle, even weight and full darkness helps many people settle into stillness faster than lying still without one, especially in a room that is not fully dark.

Some eye pillows include a light scent, most often lavender, though an unscented version is worth choosing for anyone sensitive to fragrance or practising near others who might not want it. The filling should sit evenly across the pouch without lumping to one side, since an uneven pillow presses unevenly on the face.

A common mistake is choosing one that is too heavy or too warm for the room, which can feel more distracting than calming during a long restorative hold. A light, breathable pillow that can be removed easily without sitting up works better for most people than a bulky or overly weighted one.
