Updated How we research
Hotel carpet and airport layovers are no excuse to skip practice. This kit centers on a foldable travel mat that slips into a suitcase, backed by grip socks and gloves for days when you practice straight on the floor. A lightweight strap keeps stretches honest after long flights, quick-dry shorts pack down to nothing, and a yoga-friendly backpack ties the whole setup together for city trips and retreats alike. MicaYoung's travel mat pairs a microfiber suede top with a rubber base at 1.5mm thick, 72 by 24 inches and about 3 pounds. It folds small and ships with a carry bag, a budget pick for sweaty practice on the road.
Fit for the job 8/10 · Features and specs 7/10 · Build and materials 7/10 · Value 8/10
- + 1.5mm thick and foldable, so it packs into a backpack, travel bag or suitcase rather than strapping outside
- + Microfiber suede surface is described as absorbent, which suits hot yoga and humid destinations
- + Includes a carry bag, and the listing allows cleaning with mild detergent and hanging to dry
- - 1.5mm gives very little cushion on its own, so kneeling poses on hard floors will want a towel or a hotel rug
- - About 3 pounds is on the heavy side for a thin travel mat, and frequent machine washing is discouraged

PROIRON's folding PVC travel mat is 72 by 24 inches and 0.16 inch (about 4mm) thick, and folds to roughly 12 by 10 by 2.4 inches. A cushioned foldable for travelers who find 1.5mm mats too thin.
Fit for the job 8/10 · Features and specs 7/10 · Build and materials 6/10 · Value 8/10
