The Best Acupressure Mats
Updated How we research
Acupressure mats, foam pads covered in plastic spike discs, have become a popular wind-down tool for lying on after practice or a long day at a desk. The sensation is intense at first, and most people acclimate over a few sessions. Mats differ in spike density and sharpness, foam thickness, cover fabric, and whether a matching neck pillow is included, and those details change the experience considerably. We weighed spike quality and attachment first, since discs that pop off ruin a mat, then foam density, cover materials, and included extras like pillows and carry bags. Denser spike layouts spread pressure and feel gentler, which suits beginners, while wider spacing delivers a stronger sensation for experienced users. Sets with neck pillows offer the most flexibility, and thin rollable mats suit travel.
