The Best Meditation Cushions
Updated How we research
The right cushion tilts your pelvis forward, lets the knees drop, and turns a fidgety sit into a stable one. Cushions vary in height, shape, and fill: classic round zafus filled with buckwheat hulls hold their shape and mold to you, kapok versions feel springier, and crescent shapes support the thighs differently. Height matters most, since flexible hips need less lift and tighter hips need more. We weighed how each cushion holds posture over a full sit, whether fill can be added or removed to adjust height, and cover quality and washability. Buckwheat zafus suit most sitters and remain the default recommendation, crescents suit those whose feet fall asleep on round cushions, and taller picks suit tight hips or bigger frames. Travel-friendly options round out the list.
